The NSCA Education Foundation and Sponsors Hit a Hole in One at Annual Charity Golf Outing

March 13, 2014 – Cedar Rapids, IA – The NSCA Education Foundation celebrates the success of its charitable golf outing and applauds its sponsors and tournament winners.

The event, held annually, kicks off NSCA’s Business & Leadership Conference, and sponsorship dollars raised are applied toward the Randy Vaughan Scholarship fund. Designed to enrich the future of the industry, this scholarship provides assistance for students to pursue the fundamental education they need to be successful in an electronic systems career.

This year, golfers teed off on February 27, 2014, at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas in Dallas, Texas. Players enjoyed a brisk day with some creative game twists playing on the prestigious PGA Byron Nelson Championship course.

The winners for the day included a first place tie between Chief/Advanced AV Systems and their players, Mike Boettcher, Laurie Englert, Michael Lezcano and Eric Rose (53), and an AMX team represented by Sam Titus, Kevin Bowyer, Clay Gaida and Coty Williams (53). The first place standoff forced a tie breaker on the back nine, where Chief/Advanced AV Systems moved to claim first place. The 50/50 Winner for the event was Robert Grubb from Bose, who gave his winnings back to the charity. Other awards for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive went to Steve Stacy of Almo and Coty Williams respectively.

Ron Pusey, President of Communication Specialists, NSCA Education Foundation Board Member and chairman of the golf outing said this of the event: “We added a number of new things to this year’s event, including raffles and other golfer options. We even changed up the game rules, and our players responded positively by raising an additional $10,000 for the Education Foundation on the day of play.”

Adds Chuck Wilson, Executive Director of the NSCA Education Foundation, “We had a record number of golfers and sponsors this year for the outing. This event keeps growing because it is run by colleagues who are passionate about the sport and participants who are committed to supporting the Foundation. We are sincerely grateful for their generosity.”

Special thanks to all of the players and sponsors of the golf outing, including event sponsor Accu-Tech; lunch sponsors Chief & Harman; beverage cart sponsor, Communications Specialists, Inc. and hole sponsors Kramer-Canada and Honeywell.

Plans for next year’s event are already underway and the Golf Outing will be held at another champion course in Tampa, Florida, as part of the 2015 NSCA Business & Leadership Conference. Spots are limited.
